From the moment it was sealed in three ex-sherry butts and refill sherry hogsheads, the youngest from 1969, this whisky’s journey has been marked by an independent streak. Carefully married and refilled in 2022 into a fresh ex-Matusalem sherry cask, it exhibits a unique interplay of flavours.

Just as Japan is a country of contradictions — from ancient temples to the most advanced technology, it is a place where tradition meets cosmopolitanism, where concrete jungles are encased in vast natural beauty – so its whiskies are accordingly, beautifully complex.

Our Collection

Since The Last Drop was founded in 2008, we have released only 39 bottlings, comprising fewer than 10,000 bottles in total. By their very nature, our offerings are decidedly finite. The selections aren’t judged on reputation or preconceptions. Each of the spirits we have bottled has been chosen for its remarkable qualities: we advocate fiercely for uncomplicated deliciousness. We believe that appreciating a truly fine spirit doesn’t require a lifetime’s palate training– it speaks for itself.

Drew Mayville is the he Master Blender for Sazerac and author of The Last Drop’s latest release no 28: a unique blend of Kentucky Straight Whiskeys. This release has been rapturously received by all this who’ve tasted it. It comprises whiskeys which Drew has been saving over his 20 years at @buffalotracedistillery and which he has now used to create this masterful and irreplaceable blend.

In celebration of International Women’s Day, we’d like to (re)introduce you to our very own Phoebe. Very much the global traveller, Phoebe is a wonderful example of power and beauty and purpose. She is also the product of a long line of strong and independent women, starting with the original Penelope, wife of our co-founder, Tom Jago, and notoriously a woman who didn’t suffer fools gladly, and never poured her husband a glass of whisky in 65 years of marriage.

Our Phoebe is named after our MD, @rebeccajago’s daughter @phoebemartin.

In the world of remarkable spirits, we’re lucky enough to know, partner with and celebrate the work of some truly remarkable women: women pushing boundaries and ceilings and creating game changing liquids. Tom’s Blend is The Last Drop’s house pour. Created especially for our co-founder Tom Jago, we’ve never sold a bottle (or even a drop!), though we’ve often been asked. Sometimes the right decision isn’t necessarily the commercial one. Tom’s Blend is all about sharing: sharing a dram, sharing a memory, sharing a moment.

It’s an 18-year-old Blended Scotch Whisky which represents everything that a great blend should be: smooth and complex, balanced and delicious. And a lovely reminder of the man himself.
